Love Unwritten by Lauren Asher Publisher Description

Rafael

Ellie Sinclair is a hopeless romantic who writes love songs.

I’m a struggling workaholic who could inspire a hundred breakup albums.

On paper, we have nothing in common except for my son.

For eight months, I avoid her until our summer trip.

Fourteen days. Two islands. And one nanny I shouldn’t be attracted to.

Spending time with Ellie is expected, but enjoying her company?

That isn’t part of our travel plans.

After my divorce, I swore to protect my heart at all costs.

Even if it means breaking hers in the process.

Ellie

What’s worse than working for a grumpy single dad?

Admitting that I once had a secret crush on him in high school.

Thankfully, Rafael Lopez and I have changed since we graduated from Wisteria High.

He is a billionaire with a company to run and a child to take care of.

I’m an unemployed songwriter he hired to watch his son and teach music.

We coexist without any issues until a vacation changes everything.

Lines blur and old feelings for Rafael return with a vengeance as I face a new dilemma.

Being his son’s nanny is one thing, but wishing for more?

Sounds like a heartbreak song waiting to be written.

Love Unwritten Review

Asher is known for her character-driven billionaire romance. The focus of this novel is character development.

Eli and Rafa have a lot of baggage. All this makes their relationship even more complicated.

The best part of this book is the communication between them. However, there is a miscommunication at the beginning of the book.

Yet, since Rafa is very hotheaded, it was an expected reaction. It only added to the story. I adored Rafael and Eli but fell in love with Rafa’s son, Nico. He is such a pure and extraordinary character, despite facing so many difficulties, which broke my heart. I was sobbing from page one for him.

A love story unfolds naturally, without force. The characters’ chemistry is electric, and playful banter will make you smile.

The story features two main plots. The first is dealing with a verbally abusive parent, and the second is toxicity in personal relationships.

This book is deep and emotional. But there are some spicy scenes. However, spice scenes are toned down here, which I liked, since there was so much to resolve between the main characters.

Characters overview

Rafael struggles with relationships. And not just romantic, but in general. He comes across as grumpy and often tries to isolate himself due to the trauma from his childhood and toxic marriage. Despite being aware of his weaknesses, he finds it challenging to address them.

Nico is Rafael’s son. This little genius matchmaker made this book incredible. His curiosity, bravery, and desire for life are lessons to us all.

Asher crafted a perfect group of characters so realistic that you’ll want to hug them and reassure them that everything will be alright.
